Top Grads at Saltillo School

An announcement from Saltillo School, on Friday, revealed that the top graduates of the Class of 2006, at their school was Lauren Copeland and Dani Gamez.

Valedictorian, Lauren Copeland, the daughter of Rick and Janet Copeland, is a four year member of the Beta Club and Spanish Club. She has been a member of the FCCLA for four years and played basketball for the Lady Lions for three years. She was a member of the Lady Lions Softball Team her sophomore and junior years. She has been designated as a Texas Scholar and served as the Prom Princess during her junior year. Earlier in the year, she was selected by her classmates as Miss Saltillo High School  and Most Likely to Succeed, and was a class favorite during her freshman and junior years. Lauren won first place in District UIL competition, in accounting.

 



Salutatorian, Dani Gomez, the son of Everardo and Araceli Gamez, has been a member of the Saltillo FFA for three years and a four year Spanish Club member. He has served on the Student Council and FCCLA, as well as the gifted and talented program. He has been designated as a Texas Scholar and represented his class as a Prom Prince. He has served on the Lion Yearbook Staff and was selected as Mr. Saltillo High School and Most Likely to Succeed by his classmates. He competed in UIL Accounting and won district competition. He has participated on the Ag Mechanics Team for two years and received Honorable Mention designation for his performance in the One-Act Play, his senior year.

Graduation exercises for the Saltillo Class of 2006 will be conducted on June 2, 2006, in the High School Cafeteria, at 8:00 p.m. Baccalaureate Services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m., on May 28th, at the Weaver Church.
