The City Auditorium was built in 1929 in City Park. For several years the auditorium played an important part in the community. The building became the Armory for the local National Guard unit. It was later torn down.

About The Artist

Carol Hawkins is a lifelong Austin Texas resident.   She is also the sister of Bobcat Open Systems, Inc. web designer and Front Porch News owner, Sue Hawkins McClure.  Carol received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Texas at Austin where she minored in Design.  A strong Art History background has equipped her to do all sorts of work including historical restoration.  One professor said, "Carol could be a forger."

Carol has devoted many years to her chosen field of art.  She has extensive experience working with architects, interior designers, custom home builders, contractors, decorators, business owners, home owners, authors, publishers, web site designers, & art lovers of all kinds.

Having done numerous commissioned
portraits as well as many other fine art pictures depicting a vast array of subjects Carol has demonstrated her talent as a fine artist.  She works in several mediums including oils, pastels, watercolor, & acrylics.  Advanced study in color theory as well as attention to detail are evident in all her work.  Portrait subjects have included families, children, and individuals, as well as animal portraits including dogs, horses, and longhorns.  Carol accepts commissions for fine art paintings of all kinds.
