Top Grads at North Hopkins

An announcement from Supt. Tommy Long, of North Hopkins ISD, reveals Katy Williams as the Valedictorian of the 2006 Graduating Class at North Hopkins High School. Arturo Ugalde is the Salutatorian of the class for 2006.

Valedictorian Katy Williams posted a 5.12 GPA, on a 6.0 scale, and is the daughter of Bob and Lynda Williams, and the granddaughter of  Neal and Doris Williams of Sulphur Bluff and Faye Bickness of Saginaw, TX. She was a member of the State Champion and Runner-up Cross Country Teams, captain and District MVP of the Volleyball Team, and All-State and Captain of the Lady Panther Basketball Team. She was Regional Champion in the Shot Put and Discus, and a member of the Regional Semi Finals Softball Team. She was All-State Academics in Cross Country, Volleyball, Basketball, and Track, and a member of the BETA Club, Student Council, and FCA.

As a senior, Williams qualified in Regional UIL in Computer Applications, placed 5th in Editorial Writing, and was 6th place individual and 2nd place team in Literary Criticism. She was also a member of the All-Star Cast for the One-Act Play. Her future plans include attending Austin College in Sherman and playing basketball for the Lady 'Roos. She plans a career in religion and ministry, or religious teaching.



Class Salutuatorian, Arturo Ugalde, the son of Elias and Rosa Ugalde, accumulated a GPA of 4.97, during his four years at North Hopkins High School. He was named to Who's Who Among High School Students and was a member of the North Hopkins BETA Club. He participated in baskeball and was selected as Class Favorite as a sophomore. He place second in District UIL Competition in Social Studies, and advanced to state competition in Regional Calculator Applications and Debate, all four years of high school.

Ugalde is a part of the Delay Entry Program for the U.S. Marine Corps, where he will enter Boot Camp at Camp Pendleton, California, on September 5th. He plans to pursue a degree in the Marine Corps as an MSO Combat Engineer, and eventually become an architect.

The North Hopkins Class of 2006, will graduate in exercises conducted at North Hopkins School, at 7:30 p.m., June 3, 2006.

8th Grade Names Top Grads

   

Valedictorian - Tana Hall       Salutatorian - Miguel Sanchez

An announcement from Supt. Tommy Long, at North Hopkins School, reveals that Tana Hall is the valedictorian of the 8th grade class at North Hopkins. Hall, the daughter of James and Lana Hall is a member of the Posey Baptist Church and the Junior Beta Club. She is also a member of the Student Council and FCA. She was elected Miss Junior High by the faculty of the school. She participates in UIL in Math, Ready Writing, Science, Listening, Number Sense, and Editorial. She was a member of the All-Star Cast in One Act Play, and participates in Basketball, Track, and Cross Country. She served as Captain of the Basketball Team for 2005-06.

Class salutatorian is Miguel Sanchez, with a grade point average of 93.43, and is the son of Reina and Javier Sanchez. Miguel participated in UIL Social Studies and was a member of the Cross Country and Track Teams. He attends St. James Catholic Church in Sulphur Springs. He enjoys playing soccer and basketball with his friends.

Junior High Graduation will be conducted at North Hopkins Gymnasium, at 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2006.
