Shoppers to Take Advantage
of Sales Tax Holiday

Rep. Mark Homer (D - Paris) reminds all Northeast Texans that this weekend - August 4, 5, and 6 - is the state's annual sales tax holiday.

"The sales tax holiday gives back-to-school shoppers a chance to save some money," said Rep. Homer. "With all of the supplies that kids need for the beginning of school, this is a great reprieve for parents."

The law exempts most clothing and footwear priced under $100 from sales and use taxes, which could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend. Also, lay-away plans can be used again this year to take advantage of the sales tax holiday.
