In a formal announcement in the Sulphur Springs High School Media Center, on Monday morning, SSHS Principal, Chuck King, announced the Valdictorian and Salutatorian of the 2006 SSHS Graduating Class. King gave a list of the many accomplishments of the two top individuals and introduced their parents.

Morgan Baima, daughter of Steve and Laura Baima, of Sulphur Springs, was named Valdictorian, with a grade point average of 5.636. Morgan has participated in a number of activities in her four years at SSHS. She is a member of the Lady Wildcat Soccer Team and Cross Country Team. She has participated in the UIL Math and Science Contests and is an accomplished pianist. She has received the Spanish II, Spanish III, and Spanish IV Awards, the Pre-AP Chemistry Award, and is a member of the National Honor Society. Morgan  plans to attend St. Edward's University in Austin, where she plans on a career as an obstetrician. Morgan did admit to "making an occasional 'B,' in her studies at SSHS," but not many to achieve the outstanding grade point average.
