Pickton United Methodist Youth
Hosts Giant Garage Sale
by: Bobby McDonald
The Family Life Center at Pickton United Methodist Church was "full to the brim," on Friday morning, at 8:00 a.m., as the door opened to shoppers. The giant garage sale featured donated items from the members of Pickton United Methodist Church, with the proceeds going to the youth of the congregation. "We hope to raise enough funds to purchase a mural for the Family Life Center," expressed Sissy Brumley, one of the sponsoring adults. "We've had a wonderful response from the public donating items to our sale and looks like the crowds are going to be great, if this morning is any indication!"

These two sponsors were among those parents who were helping with the giant garage sale in Pickton,
that supports the youth of the Pickton United Methodist Church.
Pickton United Methodist Church youth and their sponsors were observed organizing Christmas decorations, clothing, games, glassware, books, dishes, electronics, and almost any kind of item anyone would want.

The sale was to be conducted all day Friday, July 14th and Saturday, July 15th. "We have one of the best selections of any sale of this nature, in the area," espoused another church member, as she filled her bag with "goodies."

And, these Pickton United Methodist Church youth, were finding it hard to sell these interesting toys!
The Youth Department at the Pickton United Methodist Church is a very active group, as they participate in a number of activities throughout the year. They are always active in the large Christmas Pageant that is conducted during December, at the beginning of the season. Then, they attend a number of church camps, youth rallys, and district functions.

And, even some of the adults found some toys they liked! Didn't they, Sissy?
So, if you're looking for that "hard to find" item, you just might make plans to go to Pickton, enjoy the shopping, and support the youth of that community, all at one time!
