A jubilant Wildcat Baseball Team celebrates winning a 4-3 decision against North Lamar and
finishing district play with a perfect 10-0 season.
Wildcat Baseball Ends District
With Perfect 10-0 Record
by: Bobby McDonald
Despite a "downpour" or rain, as thunderstorms moved through Sulphur Springs, on Friday night, and an hour game delay, the Sulphur Springs Wildcat Baseball Team concluded their district season with a perfect 10-0 record, as they beat the North Lamar Panthers 4-3. The Wildcats had already "clinched" the District Championship, by earlier defeating Texas High, but wanted to have a perfect season, as they entered the play-offs.

These Sulphur Springs fans braved the rain to cheer the Wildcats to a perfect 10-0 district season,
on Friday night. The Wildcats are 21-5 for the entire season.
Senior night was observed as Coach Jerrod Hammack's Wildcats were introduced before a large crowd of home fans, who braved the weather and came out to support the team. Many of these seniors have played baseball together since they first started playing ball and have developed quite a fan club.

When many teams might have "let-down" as they already had the district title won, this team of talented young athletes carried that winning pride into Friday night's game, despite the fact they were playing the last place team in the district. "It was a matter of pride and the chance to say we had a perfect district season," expressed the senior members of the team.
However, the victory wasn't exactly an easy one, as the Wildcats trailed 2-0, following the second inning of play. But, they managed to show the finesse that made them the district champions, as they staged a come-from-behind victory.
The Wildcats will have two warm-up games scheduled for next week. The first game is scheduled at Mike Carter Field in Tyler, for 7:00 p.m., Tuesday night, when they will face Tyler Lee. And, then the Cats will be back at home on Friday night, at 7:00, when they will face Kilgore.

This score put the Wildcats ahead 3-2 and both teams scored one more run, before the final decision Friday night.
A definite play-off schedule had not been determined, according to Coach Hammack, as the results of Friday night's games had to be realized and schedules determined. Those will be forthcoming, next week.
Congratulations
Wildcat Baseball
On A Perfect 10-0
And District Championship!
