

Panthers Succeed In
"Northern Hopkins County Shoot-Out"

It was a beautiful day for baseball, when the North Hopkins Panthers traveled a few miles to the east and "took-on" their rivals, the Sulphur Bluff Bears, on Tuesday afternoon, for a fierce baseball match-up. The warm sunshine and pleasant temperatures made for an ideal playing conditions and competitive baseball.


Dueling from the mound, were North Hopkins pitcher, Josh McPerson, and Sam Woody from Sulphur Bluff. And, McPerson walked away with the 12-6 win, pitching 0 earned runs. Bradley Ball also worked from the mound for North Hopkins.

Behind the plate, North Hopkins' Jake Cockrum connect on two of five and produced an outstanding Grand Slam. Joe Smiddy connected for three of three from behind the plate, for 2 RBI's and two singles. Jeremy Dixon scored one run and connected with two of four tries at the bat. Stevie Crocker scored one run and produced a RBI with three times at bat. And, Justin Clements contributed two scores for the winning North Hopkins Panthers.

For the Sulphur Bluff Bears, Colten Nichols connected on two of his three tries at bat and scored two runs. Sam Woody produced a single and scored one run, in addition to his defensive work on the pitcher's mound. Mason Littrell produced a single for the Bears and scored one run, and Jonathan Andrews connected for a single and scored another run in the Sulphur Bluff effort.

In Friday afternoon action, the North Hopkins Panthers will travel to Saltillo for a 4:00 game, and Sulphur Bluff will be hosting Yantis, at their home field, with a 4:00 game.
