NETLA Board Meets
Monday Night

by: Bobby McDonald

The Northeast Texas Livestock Association Board met on Monday night in the Sulphur Springs High School Vocational Agriculture Building to discuss the upcoming Northeast Texas Dairy Show and to name superintendents for the various species of animals in the 2007 Market Show.

The Northeast Texas Dairy Show will be featured on June 17, 2006, and Bryant Fisher, Show Superintendent, reported that everything was going great for the show. He had a confirmation from Danny M. Huddleston, of Alba, Texas, as the show judge. And, Fisher and his assistant, Amy Bowen, were getting proofs together for a mass mail-out to 4-H and FFA Chapters, with the show entry forms and rules.

In other action, the NETLA Board discussed some rule changes that had been proposed and will be  notifying members of any changes that will be voted on at the next meeting. Additionally, because of several members being unable to attend, the officer elections for 2006-07, were postponed until the next meeting.

Tammy Giles, left was named Assistant Superintendent of the Steer Show for the 2007 Show, and
Murphy Howle, right, was named Superintendent.

However, show superintendents and their assistants for the 2007 NETLA Market Show were voted into office and approved by the membership. They will be: Poultry Division - Johnny Lennon, Supt. and Melissa Fouse, Asst.; Steers - Murphy Howle, Supt. and Tammy Giles, Asst.; Beef Heifers - Tina Jaggers, Supt. and Dwight Clifton, Asst.; Swine - Richard Danheim, Supt. and Chuck Askins, Asst.;  and Sheep and Goats - Michael Phillips, Supt. and Blake Fisher, Asst. Goat Supt., and Carol Cowley, Asst. Sheep Supt.

The NETLA Board will meet following the Northeast Texas Dairy Show and discuss the various aspects of that show and will conduct their officer elections for the 2006-07 year.

And......looks like veteran Vocational Agriculture Teachers Richard Watson and Dannie Johnson
used the meeting to catch-up on some much needed rest! What do you think?
