Area Girl Scouts Conduct
Day Camp At Civic Center

Local Girl Scout leaders were actively involved in signing-up girls for the Annual Girls Scouts' Day Camp, on Monday afternoon, at the pavillion on the Civic Center Grounds. The camp is designed to build relationships and to provide a variety of activities for those girls enrolled in the Girl Scouts program.

"Sports Night" was the theme for Monday night's activities and a variety of games and stations were distributed throughout the park area, for each participant to enjoy. Among those items was a "dunking booth," and several girls were hoping that they didn't draw the unlucky "straw" to be sitting on the "hot seat" during that game.

Tuesday nights activities will feature water games and is termed "Ooey Gooey Splash Night," where girls will participate in a number of water related activities during the recreation portion of the camp.

The final night, Wednesday night, will feature a program designed around "Crazy Carnival," and will emulate a carnival atmosphere, where participants can try their hand at a number of games and activities pertaining to that theme.

The camp is conducted through Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., each night and information about enrolling in the activities can be obtained by calling Leslie Nymeyer at (903)885-7550. The Girl Scouts is an equal opportunity organization designed to foster character building activities for girls in this community.
