This Yantis High School graduate expressed the sentiments of many across the area, as he didn't
even stifle a yawn, during the speeches presented at exercises on Friday night!

County Schools Graduate
Class of 2006!

by: Bobby McDonald

There were just a few tears, lots of hugs, and loads of celebration, as county schools across the area conducted graduation exercises on Friday night. Cumby, Miller Grove, Saltillo, Sulphur Bluff, and Yantis, all hosted graduation exercises for the class of 2006, on Friday night, while Como-Pickton and Sulphur Springs hosted their ceremonies last weekend, and North Hopkins will conduct their exercises on Saturday night, June 3rd.

Cumby graduates took a few moments to have a little fun, before entering the auditorium to receive their
diplomas, in Commerce.

These Cumby seniors were honored by parents and friends with a poster
at the end of a rural northwestern Hopkins County drive-way.

The Class of 2006 from Cumby traveled to the campus of Texas A&M University-Commerce and conducted their exercises in Ferguson Hall, with hopes of having the new gymnasium finished to conduct the 2007 exercises.

Miller Grove's Class of 2006 listens to speakers during their exercises, Friday night.

Miller Grove Salutatorian Callie Smith and Valedictorian James Weaver, pause to reflect, before
giving their addresses at Friday night's exercises.

At Miller Grove, speakers encouraged the graduation class to set impossible dreams and go for them, as they awaited their coveted high school diplomas, and family and friends watched from the high school gym.

And, at Yantis, a power-point presentation of fond memories was given in honor of the senior class and their parents. However, it was the "whooping and hollering" following the announcement of the class that seemed to be the most exciting time for area seniors, as they made plans for the future and anticipated entering "the real world!"

A power-point presentation of favorite memories honored seniors at Yantis High School.

Valedictorian Christina Bean and Salutatorian Starla Burchfield deliver their remarks to the audience
and class at Yantis High School.

And, the class, not so patiently listens!

And, Yantis senior, Jeremy Hurley, returns to his seat after receiving that
coveted diploma, with a smile on his face.

And, it's finally time to "turn the tassels" and enter the "real world!"

Congratulations
Class of 2006!
