Thunderheads boiled in the sky, over the peaceful Hopkins County farming community of Miller Grove, as
classic car enthusiasts made their way to the Car Show in the community. But, everyone celebrated the much
needed rain, and rejoiced in a beautiful day.
A "Classic" Saturday In
Miller Grove
by: Bobby McDonald
Thunderheads boiled in the sky, following a morning rain, and even a few raindrops fell in Miller Grove, on Saturday morning, but that wasn't near enough to dampen the spirits of the Volunteer Fire Department and their plans to host a Classic Car Show. Proceeds for the fundraising effort were to be used to purchase needed equipment for the department, in their effort to serve the community.

The Miller Grove School Parking Lot was the site for the Classic Car Show, that featured a wide
variety of classic automobiles and a host of specators that relived fond memories of days gone by.
Lots of chrome........could be seen in this classic beauty, on display in Miller Grove.
The Miller Grove Volunteer Fire Department hosted games for the children, a dunkin' booth, and BBQ plate lunches to entice every member of the family to come out and view the classic automobiles on display.

These classic car owners "put on the shine" as they parked their autos and prepared them for
the large crowd of Hopkins County residents that came out for the show.

Large trophies were awarded to the best automobile in a variety of classes.
These two Miller Grove area residents tried to remember just how classy the automobiles were
when they were growing up. "Man, if we could have only had wheels like this," was a common
sentiment going through the crowd.

Few in Saturday's crowd, in Miller Grove, could remember when classics like this 1953 Ford Truck,
were common on the road. But, some could remember owning one like this and using it on their farm.

These 1950's Models were favorites of almost everyone.
The weather was nice and most families celebrated the nice rainfall that the area had received overnight.
Regardless of one's age, classic automobiles hold a definite attraction.
David Brewer and Ray Glenn Jordan, both of Sulphur Springs, discuss the many classic autos
at the Miller Grove Show, on Saturday.
And, this 55 year old beauty was admired by all.
Those growing-up in the 1970's remembered this one!
The Miller Grove Volunteer Fire Department was the big benefactor of Saturday's Classic Car Show, as they raised needed
funds to purchase some new equipment.
