In Yantis and at Lake Fork

The City of Yantis, the Yantis Volunteer Fire Department, and officials at Lake Fork Chamber of Commerce are all thinking about "catfish," this week, as they prepare for the Annual Catfish Tournament, Fish Fry, and Catfish Parade.

The Yantis Volunteer Fire Department met on Thursday night and made final preparations for the annual Benefit Fish Fry, that serves as one of the department's major fundraising activities. "The fish has all been procured and all the paper goods have arrived," expressed Wesley Crist, YVFD Chief. "We hope everyone will come out and enjoy this year's parade and fish fry!"

Wesley Crist, Yantis VFD Fire Chief, explains the help needed to conduct the annual Fish Fry to be
conducted on Saturday, July 15th.

"We've moved the fish fry to larger quarters in the Yantis School Cafeteria, for this year," stated Crist. "We had problems with not having enough room last year and we have provided an air conditioned place for everyone to wait in line, this year, so things will go much, much faster and smoother!"

Yantis Mayor, Jerry E. Miller, was at Thursday night's meeting to report that "all things are on go" for the 3rd Annual Yantis Catfish Parade.  The parade will assemble on the Yantis Community Center Parking Lot and begin at the Yantis Volunteer Fire Department, and proceed from the north, into Yantis. The parade will end at the Yantis School. "We'll start the parade at 5:00, sharp, on Saturday, July 15th, and the fish fry will be conducted immediately following the parade," expressed Miller. "We already have more entries than last year and look for a really nice parade with loads of antique cars!"

Members of the Yantis VFD receive instructions regarding the Fish Fry and Parade to be held in
Yantis, on Saturday, July 15th.

Serving as Parade Marshall for this year's parade will be, Martin Edwards, who is responsible for founding the Annual Lake Fork Big Splash Catfish Tournament from his Minnow Bucket Store, Marina, and Restaurant, on Lake Fork.

"The third annual Big Catfish Splash on Lake Fork is guaranteed to be the most fun you'll ever have in a catfish tournament," proclaims Edwards and The Lake Fork Area Chamber of Commerce. "It is the richest payback in catfish history with a guaranteed $50,000.00 prizes for the two-day event!"

Yantis Mayor, Jerry E. Miller, reported on the progress of the Yantis Catfish Parade,
