

"All She Wants To Do Is Dance"

The Sulphur Springs High School Blue Blazes were "center stage" in the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center on Saturday night, when they presented their 2006 Spring Show to a large group of parents, supporters, and community patrons. Individual 2005-06 officers presented slide presentations and choreographed dances, highlighting their year, while groups of dancing members presented a variety of presentations.
A group presentation of the 2005-06 officers opened the program with a choreographed dance routine to the popular song, "Dance." The program steps were designed by Ashley Ballard and Megan Morton.
"Giddy-Up" was the next number and a dance routine was performed by the "Baby Blazes" or recently selected members class. Dancing in the routine were LaDicia Alexander, Brittany Bell, Kaley Bount, Ashlea Brown, Brittany Clevenger, Kameron Freelan, Dominique Harrison, Jessica Horton, Clanay Huggett, Ashley McDowell, Autumn Morris, Ceara Moser, Sarah Nelson, Coty Pierce, Cammie Pingel, Ali Pogue, Kaitlyn Potts, Haley Reynolds, Kim Rhodes, Amanda Ruiz, Morgan Russom, Yessenia Sanchez, and Maci Smith.

The Sophomore Class chose "Fighter" as their song, and presented a routine that included the dancers dressed in fatigues. Dancing in the routine were Misti Aten, Brittany Bell, Kayla Diaz, Kali Hood, Jessica Jones, Emma McBrayer, Tristan Morgan, Dakesha Nash, Janie Reyes, Marsala Sanchez, Jordan Smith, Kali Sink, Deanna Stevens, Shannon Swinford, Chelsey Tiegiser, and Rachel Whatley.

The Junior Class of the Blue Blazes chose the song "Take My Hand" and presented their routine. Dancing with the junior were Bailey Blount, Kasi Carpenter, Emily Davis, Anna Hicks, Courtney Jamison, Alyssa Malone, Kimberly Mathes, Lesa Nelson, Katrina Scherer, Christy Teer, and Mandy Teer.


Individual "squads" lead by a 2005-06 officer made a number of presentations, as well.
The Senior Class of Blazes chose the song "The Journey Home" for their final presentation and dancing were Alicia Anglin, Ashley Ballard, Tosha Cotton, Amanda Darden, Brittanie Harry, Cassie Johnson, Magan Morton, Amanda Reese, Yeni Sanchez, and Ricki Scherer.
The officers of the SSHS Blue Blazes for 2006-07 were introduced and presented a routine to "I Will Remember You." Officers for 2006-07 include: Captain Katrina Scherer, Co-Captain Alyssa Malone, 1st Lt. Bailey Blount, Lt. Jordan Smith, Lt. Lesa Nelson, Lt. Courtney Jamison, Line Sergeant Kali Hood, and Line Sergeant Rachel Watley.

As a final tribute to her year as Captain for 2005-06, Ashley Ballard presented her routine to "I Can Only Imagine.
A finale performance was presented by the entire group to the music of "Strike Up The Band." Then, all present and former members of the Blue Blazes formed the "Sister Circle" on the stage of the Civic Center.

The Blue Blazes Drill Team members and guest paid tribute to their Director, Juanita Ross, who is leaving her position at the end of this year's term, to make her new home in Texarkana, where she is needed by her family.
