Genealogical Society
Hosts "Lock-In" Saturday

by: Bobby McDonald

Marynell Bryant, President of the Hopkins Co. Genealogical Society,
finds the easy chair and her pillow to settle-in for the duration of the
Hopkins County Genealogical Society Lock-In.

Members of the Hopkins County Genealogical Society will be sponsoring their 7th Annual Lock-In, Saturday, July 16, 2005. The event begins at 12:00 noon and lasts until the last researcher can't function anymore! Organizers say the event has always been a popular summertime activity and gives researchers an opportunity for uninterrupted research, as well as some wonderful fellowship and visiting with the members and library personnel.

"We will have all of our equipment and materials available for use during the event," denoted Bryant. "We will be conducting a reduced price of 20 cents on all of the standard size copies, to give researchers a 'break' on the normal price and to encourage more activity. Volunteers will be available to assist researchers in their quests for information."

The Hopkins County Genealogical Library is one of the state-of-the-art facilities in the State of Texas and has a large membership from both local and distant clientele. Located at 212 Main Street, the society has microfilm and microfiche documents, as well as the standard materials, to aid those looking for family members and historic information.

Researchers will be asked to make a $5.00 donation to the group, as they attend the Saturday event, and refreshments will be available to aid in uninterrupted research. Make plans to attend the event and find your own family members that contributed to Hopkins County or other historic places.
