Celebrate July 4th
With A "Redneck" Party

by: Bobby McDonald

A simple project that spells "S-u-m-m-e-r" with a capital "S," is a humorous watermelon boat
that combines the summertime favorite and our East Texas uniqueness.

What could be more East Texas, than a "redneck" watermelon boat, to add to your festive 4th of July party? Combine the summertime favorite with a little bit of "redneck" humor and you have the perfect combination for a fun-filled party, guaranteed to win laughs from your guests!

The project is an easy way to serve watermelon and makes for the ideal centerpiece for your summertime party. Below are the simple steps to creating your very own "redneck" creation:

Begin with a medium sized watermelon.

Carefully remove 1/4 of the melon to form the "bed" of the truck.
Reserve the cut-out section for later use.

Cut and remove the windows from the section that will be the "cab."

Cut-out the "windshield" from the front area.

Make your watermelon balls and then clean the flesh from the
inside of the truck and clean the reserved 1/4 section, as well.

Invert the 1/4 section and attach four grapefruits for the "tires"
with toothpicks.

Put the boat on top of the 1/4 section and use two lemon slices for
the "headlights" of the truck. Then, fill the "boat" with your melon
balls and favorite fruits.

Place the boat in the center of your table and use a camouflage cloth to add to the theme. Decorate
your table with "redneck" props and other items that enhance the theme of the party.

"You might be a redneck.......if you design a watermelon "truck" to entertain guests!
